Emphasizes that views of professional organizations have evolved considerably over time. This evolution has occurred both in response to changing societal views on homosexuality and on emerging research regarding homosexuals behavior, the biological and societal causes of this behavior, and potential therapies for that behavior. The growing gay lobby has had an influence as well in that they typically oppose reparative therapy.
