While most people would assume that high school athletics have little influence on an individuals desire, or ability, to perform in the Olympics, the fact is that an individual who is interested, and capable, of performing well in any athletic capacity will first demonstrate those abilities early in life. Often if the urge or ability is not fed during the early years, especially high school years, then the ability goes unchallenged and the opportunity to succeed in a competition such as the Olympics, is lost forever.
