Torn equally between being guardian of social principle and protector of individual survival pits one against his own moral capacity in the hopes to have the inherent insightfulness necessary to draw the 'most right' conclusion. After all, is this not what the human basis for ethics and morality is all about: choosing the lesser of all evils to better justify a choice that is not one-hundred percent right?
