Alvar Aalto's "Summer House"
[ send me this paper ]
10 pages in length. The legacy of Alvar Aalto brings to mind the necessity to soften the inherent hardness of man's machines. Clearly, the prestigious architect knew what he was talking about when he often said that there must be a happy medium between the coldness of typical architectural
style and the human beings who occupy such structures. His point was always meant to bring out the intrinsically natural quality of a building or piece of furniture as a means by which to strike a chord of affinity. Perhaps one of his greatest architectural examples of this was his famous Summer House. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

American Artists/Morse and Mount
[ send me this paper ]
A 4 page research paper that examines the work of American artists Samuel F.B. Morse and William Sidney Mount, who were contemporaries, but who took very different stances in regards to American art. An Annotated Bibliography of American Art and Artists: 1900-1950
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 10 page annotated bibliography summarizing ten articles discussing American art and artists in from 1900-1950. A literature review of American art and artists spanning the first half of the 20th century generally falls within two areas of study: the influence of the international market and perception on American art primarily based in New York; and, the important movement of the African American artists which were promoted and funded for the first time in the first half of the 20th century. Generally, according to art historians and critics, American art during the first half of the 20th century is almost disregarded while the pop and commercial movements in the second half of the 20th century are highlighted in most European exhibitions. Also from an international perspective, very little regard is made in the way of the contribution of women and minority artists; an oversight which is slowly being resolved in recent years.
