Creating a Black Nation
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page paper that purveys how Black Africans looked at their history of domination realized that this excluded them from participating in commerce. But the larger picture was one of diversity. Members of their community are spread around the planet, and this prevented them from forming a strong Black community. Leaders knew that if they did not change history, that the global community would continue to exclude and dominate them. Therefore, they began reclaiming their rightful place by achieving freedom from British rule in Africa, restructuring their communities in Africa, and by including Blacks from around the world in their reconstruction under the umbrella of 'Pan-Atlantic' and 'Pan-American' movements. Criminal Sentencing: White, Black, and Mental
[ send me this paper ]
(8 pp). What we will be looking at in this discussion are basically two issues, that have somehow become enmeshed: According to Davis (1998), more than 70 percent, of the imprisoned population, are people of color. It is rarely acknowledged, that the fastest growing group of prisoners are black women, and that Native American prisoners are the largest group per capita. Approximately five million people - including those on probation and parole -- are directly under the surveillance of the criminal justice system. And according to Ditton (1999) sixteen percent of those incarcerated in state systems are mentally ill. One of the questions that then arises from this data is, are the white mentally ill sentenced to incarceration at a different ratio than people of color? Bibliography lists 8 sources.

David Walker: Blacks And Whites Are "Natural Enemies"
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. It is nearly impossible to escape racial stereotypes, for they have existed for centuries in all segments of society. One need only look throughout history in order to determine where such damaging stereotypes originated; If one considers the fact that each person is a product of his own environment, it is easy to see that the influence of his surroundings is critical to forming his racial image. Attitudes are spread from generation to generation, community to community and person to person; there is virtually no way to avoid becoming tainted in a society that harbors negative racial stereotypes and embraces Whiteness. When David Walker claimed that blacks and whites are "natural enemies," he was referring to the manner by which the colored race has long been oppressed, controlled and molded by the white race. Bibliography lists 1 source.
