The Netherlands’ Education System and Accountancy Qualifications

Students wishing to become Registered Accountants in the Netherlands can do so in a number of different ways depending on whether or not they enter the program with or without a previous professional degree. Students with professional business degrees can take the accountancy course part-time through the NIvRA/Nijenrode University Accounting and Auditing program. Accountancy as a professional program itself takes 7 ˝ years through the NIvRA/Nijenrode University route; the most common and preferred training program for accountants as it integrates theoretical and the needed practical experience required for certification in the Royal NIvRA.
