Eating Disorders / Treatment Alternatives
[ send me this paper ]
Anorexia, bulimia and obesity are all considered by the general public as eating disorders. It would be more appropriate to designate them as 'weight disorders', as they are primarily concerned with and defined, at least in part, by the weight of the individual. Anorexia is loss of weight to the point of emaciation and, or starvation. The physical repercussions are the uppermost consideration in the treatment of Anorexia because of the nature of physical damage caused by the disorder. Bulimia is an obsession with the manipulation of factors concerned with weight gain. Obesity is when weight exceeds a certain percentage of the norm and causes health problems. This 10 page paper examines the components of these eating disorders and the treatments available. Bibliography lists 21 sources.
