Caught within the hostile world of Nazi warfare, Jewish youth Solomon Perel realizes that the only way he is going to escape a brutal death at the hands of the Nazis is by masquerading as one of them. Indeed, the dichotomy of his circumstances is aptly captured through Holland's cinematic eye, allowing viewers to gain a significantly better understanding of the harshness that enveloped Perel's very survival. "Triumph Of The Will" And "Anne Frank Remembered": Compare/Contrast

6 pages in length. The distinction between narrative and fiction is that narrative is derived from reality, whereas fiction is born of someone's imagination. That is not to say that either one presents a better form of documentary than the other, but rather to recognize that one's foundations is based in truth, while the other comes from the imaginative process. An example of a narrative documentary, "Triumph of the Will" might be construed as any one of various historical accounts where the information possesses a factual background, while "Anne Frank Remembered" represents a narrative where there is no assault upon the subject's integrity. War, nature, biographies -- these all represent a narrative in that they document reality, yet based upon the criteria found in Dai Vaughn's "For Documentary: Twelve Essays," Riefenstahl's account bears a significant obstacle in capturing absolute truth when compared with Blair's personal chronicle of Anne Frank's struggle against Nazi invasion. A Discussion Concerning the Historical Accuracy of the Holocaust Narratives

This is a 12 page paper discussing the concerns of historical accuracy of the Holocaust narratives. The historical accuracy of Holocaust narratives has always been questioned but regardless of this concern, narratives continue to be collected. The collection of the narratives is considered to be important in not only documenting experiences from the past but benefiting future students in regards to appreciating their lives today and learning from the horrors of history. Holocaust narratives however are extremely subjective and personal and historians have always considered autobiographies to be only one of many sources and cannot be considered independently. One of the reasons for the questioning of their accuracy is the reliance on memory which can be influenced by many factors. These factors include trauma; the overlapping distinction between memory and imagination; the desire to present a moral image which depicts events as “black” or “white”; and the desire to present an account which will honor those from the past and educate those in the future among other influences. These desires may be totally subconscious but exist nevertheless and are powerful. Bibliography lists 7 sources.

Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” and the Relationship Between the State, Culture, and Race

This 5 page report discusses Hitler’s infamous “Mein Kampf,” written between 1924-27. In it, he outlined his policies for the future as he told how he had evolved. In it, it is clear that he always believed himself to be a man of great talent, whether as an artist or architect or the leader of his political party. For Hitler, the connection between the state and culture was clear and he used the issue of race to establish that his own vision of how culture and state are inter-related and how the wrong “type” of person can pervert what he determined to be the true and necessary relationship between state and cultural refinement and enlightenment. Even though there was anti-Semitism in Poland, as there was anti-Semitism nearly everywhere in Europe, Alicia with her parents and four brothers led relatively peaceful lives. This all changed with Germany's invasion of Poland.. the infamous blitzkrieg of September 1, 1939 - Alicia was only 9 years old at the time. Although History Repeats Itself, It Never Repeats Itself Exactly
