Arguments Against Attacking Iraq
[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page paper listing several reasons that the US should not attack Iraq for the purposes of deposing Saddam Hussein. While there is no question that Hussein likely is one of the most evil individuals on the planet, removing him by force opens the US to a host of other problems. Not the least of these is the view of the US as an oppressive bully, dictating to another sovereign nation how it will conduct its affairs. Though the US certainly should be able to accomplish the removal of Hussein from power, its stated objective is to dismantle Al Qaeda. Attacking Iraq likely will only have the opposite effect in giving would-be terrorists incentive for joining with the terrorist group that is not among those that Iraq formally supports. Bibliography lists 12 sources.
