Empirical Research Proposal Regarding the Oppression of Women in
Islamic States
[ send me this paper ]
This 12 page report discusses whether or not the
oppression of women in Islamic states is based in the religious
theology of Islam or in the cultural contexts of individual
nations. Many believe that the Quran (Koran) teachings and male
dominance have caused this situation when the actual problem has
been more directly related to the interpretation of holy
scripture by men. It is the fundamentalist extremists who should
take the blame for distorting the teachings of Islam. This paper
is written in ways that lend themselves to the actual development
of a larger research project. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Employees’ Perceptions of the Effect of Technology on Their Jobs
[ send me this paper ]
A 52 page paper discussing the use of technology at Saudi Aramco, the world’s leading producer of oil and gas products, and workers’ reactions to that use of technology. The overriding lesson that the company can take from this survey is that its workers hold a deep desire to take an active role in promoting their company and enhancing its competitive advantage, but that they hold personal interests as well. The small influence of any antipathy harbored by employees in response to the company’s use and pursuit of technology likely can be diminished with greater communication within the company, including that in which senior management keeps lower-level workers informed of their decisions and the reasons behind those decisions. Includes 2 figures and a table. Bibliography lists 44 sources.

Ethiopian Jews
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. Lost in a sea of political, social and religious disregard, Ethiopian Jews – called Falashas meaning "the alien ones" – were no more considered a welcome part of their homeland than any other infiltrator would be. That they were half a million strong did nothing to maintain their cultural strength against other indigenous peoples of Gondar. With religion at the crux of this separation, it comes with great relief that this virtually desolated ethnic population was both discovered and rescued from its collapse into complete destruction. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Fortunes in the Istanbul Stock Market
[ send me this paper ]
A 9 page paper discussing the history and growth of
Turkey's stock market over the past decade and how it has affected relations with international
investors. Turkey's economy is rather typical of successfully developing markets in that it enjoys
an overall upward trend but suffers from occasional setbacks as all markets do. What sets
Turkey's Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) apart from the markets of other developing nations is
that its overall upward trend is so very impressive. In the first six months of 2000, the ISE was
the best-performing of all the world's markets in developing nations, posting a six-month total
return of 171.8%. The ISE has been dominated by local retail investors for much of its history,
but international institutional investors accounted for 51% of the ISE's capitalization by 1999.
Bibliography lists 15 sources.

Hegemonic Stability Theory: How It Relates To The Middle East
[ send me this paper ]
8 pages in length. The hegemonic stability theory, which stresses the importance of a central stabilizing force that keeps a international system from breaking apart, can readily be applied to the manner by which the middle east has taken such a formidable stance within the political world. What is at the heart of middle eastern hegemony, and why is it important to understand the phenomenon of associated global conflict? These are two immensely
important questions that share the same answer. At the core of global strife are the following explosive issues: nuclear power and economic development; from these two considerations grow all other reasons that instigate war between world countries, such as it being a matter of foreign policy; the concept that a free world is a safer
world; the spread of democracy; to protect one’s own
interests; and to create allies. All these reasons for global conflict may appear worthy, but they are really just a means by which to gain and maintain hegemonic power. One might readily argue, however, that the middle east asserts its hegemony in the most socially, economically and politically damaging ways as possible, representing the cyclical composition of its existence. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

Hellenistic Roman Palestine and the Dead Sea Scrolls
[ send me this paper ]
This 9
page report discusses The ancient Judaic world, better described
as the “Hellenistic Roman Palestine.” Following the discovery of
the Dead Sea Scrolls, both the secular and non-secular worlds
have been fascinated with what could be learned from them. Some
believed that questions that are thousands of years old might be
answered through the Scrolls. In tracing the timeline and
history of the ancient Jews, it should be noted that Jewish
history was unfolding in several areas, most notably Judah,
Mesopotamia and Egypt. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
