Cardiovascular Disease
[ send me this paper ]
A 21 page paper discussing the causes of cardiovascular disease and some of the preventive measures that individuals can take for themselves. Not all risk factors - age, sex, heredity - can be prevented, but many others are under individuals' control. The bottom line in prevention of cardiovascular disease is to live by the guidelines of common sense. The human body was not made to survive on junk food, but it thrives with many fruits, vegetables and fiber. Some studies have found that increased fiber, while not directly affecting the cardiovascular system, can nonetheless have a positive effect by tying up some of the cholesterol that otherwise would be floating free in the bloodstream, ready to attach itself to arterial walls. The old adage of "everything in moderation" is particularly applicable to prevention and management of cardiovascular disease. Bibliography lists 8 sources.
