Health Care Legalities and Ethics
[ send me this paper ]
A 12 page paper discussing a case in which an emergency room nurse turned away a patient delivered by ambulance. The receiving hospital is a private, for-profit organization, and the patient had no job, no funds and no insurance. The patient was suffering from an apparent broken leg after injuring it playing tennis on a city-owned court. When asked how he intended to pay the hospital’s bill, the patient replied that he would sue the city for the funds. The nurse determined that there were no serious injuries present and that the patient was stable, and then instructed the ambulance crew to transport the patient to a public facility. The paper identifies the facts of the case, then reviews legal, moral and economic issues of the case before concluding with a proposed corporate statement addressing future occurrences. HIV/AIDS Patients and Suicide
[ send me this paper ]
This 18 page report discusses the many issues associated with suicide and people with HIV/AIDS. The disease has raised numerous issues such as access to care, prevention, cost of treatment, drug therapy and much more. Not surprisingly, it has also intensified the debate regarding right to die, physician assisted suicide, and the moral issues associated with suicide. As people are forced to live with a disease that slowly but surely robs them of all strength and any measure of personal dignity, many have made the decision not to endure that process or cause their loved ones to have to experience it with them. The impact of the loss of personal autonomy, the emotional and physical suffering, and the related care issues are presented in terms of both AIDS patients and their caregivers. A 7 page overview of the controversy surrounding home testing for HIV. Identifies AIDS, and HIV) as a tragic disease for which there are tragic consequences both epidemiologically and sociologically. Contends that because of the social stigma which all too often results with the disease and the insecurity of medical records in general, home testing is not an option but a necessity. Human Growth Hormone And Athletes
[ send me this paper ]
10 pages in length. Athletes represent a special group of people who are keenly aware of their nutritional requirements. After all, they demand a great deal from their bodies as a means by which to achieve their varied and often rigorous athletic goals. Still, this is not to say that just because one is an athlete that one heeds either the legal and dangerous aspects of obtaining an artificial – albeit optimal – performance. As a means by which to overcome the inherent setbacks that come with size, the writer discusses how athletes have been known to take human growth hormone supplements; believing that the benefits of enhanced performance will outweigh the related issues with health and sportsmanship, the sports world has become inundated with the use of a very questionable dietary addition. Identity and Reproductive Technology
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 4 page paper discussing the ideas of identity through the ongoing controversy of reproductive technology. Identity in today’s culture has become skewed in relation to the increasing technological possibilities in reproduction and the continued quest for the ideal American dream. Eugenics, or selective breeding, has been the basis for considerable controversy for over seventy years yet reproductive technology continues to expand. Today’s technologies can offer researchers control over genetic characteristics in which the genes carrying congenital defects can be identified, altered or removed. While this is intended to create a healthier population, reproductive technology is also considered as a way to pre-select desirable traits for future generations; the problem being who will be the ones to decide which traits are desirable? In the 1920s, Chesterton discussed the protection of American identity through eugenics while Albee’s play in the 1960s “The American Dream” tells how the American identity has become one of superficial and materialistic values. Most recently, McGee in his text “The Perfect Baby” points out that regardless of any advances in reproductive technology, social influences will always overpower them. Bibliography lists 7 sources.

In Favor Of How Bayer Is Making Money From Cipro Pills
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Myriad concerns over health and safety have surfaced since the World Trade Center terrorist attacks. With the heightened state of tension caused by the seemingly associated presence of Anthrax, it is no wonder people frightened for the nation's future. However, it is important for the student to point out that there is yet another concern revolving around the Anthrax situation that has people divided over its social, ethical and economic impact: Bayer Corporation's high price for Cipro, the antibiotic that effectively contains the progression of Anthrax. Is this German-based company morally and legally right in making money off this terrorist activity by charging the consumer $4 per pill when other nations have it accessible for a mere $10 per month? Bibliography lists 2 sources.
