Image and Results in the Pharmaceutical Industry
[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page paper discussing problems in the pharmaceutical industry in the US and its likely outlook for the early part of the new century. There is little new in the pharmaceutical industry in the pattern of long development times, high R&D costs and efforts to recoup costs and generate profits in the relatively short time that the developing company has protected rights to a formula. What is new is the growing complexity of the diseases and conditions now under study and the immense increases in costs over the years. Some point to the fact of 2001’s 4.4 percent growth as a mark of doom, but that likely is not the case. The general economy grew during the same period only by just over 2 percent. Growing at only twice the rate of the national economy generally is not a sign of doom. Bibliography lists 8 sources.

Infant Mortality: Current Situation
[ send me this paper ]
16 pages in length. With the ongoing technological advancements in the medical field, it is difficult to believe that infant mortality is still so prevalent in today's society. However, it is this very technology that provides the opportunity to avert infant death that is being overlooked as a means by which to address the issue. Statistics indicate that infant mortality is primarily a socio-cultural epidemic, in that appropriate medical attention is gravely lacking in low-income and minority communities. Genetic disturbance represents yet another population in which infant mortality is experienced, no matter the individual's race or financial status. Genetically induced infant mortality is often not detected until well into the third trimester, a point at which termination of pregnancy is both a health risk for the mother and a morally painful decision to make. Bibliography lists 19 sources.

INR Stability with the Involvement of a Nurse Educator
[ send me this paper ]
This 5 page report discusses the international normalized ratio or INR and how a nurse educator’s efforts can assure that INR stability is maintained on a more consistent basis. There are a number of indications for oral anticoagulation therapy, most having to do with the use of mechanical devices to maintain a patient’s cardiac functioning. Therefore, it is essential that it be maintained on a consistent basis and without wide variances in overall INR. Because the INR concept is one that is directly related to how caregivers make determinations of the next option in a patient’s care, the efficacy of management by a nurse educator cannot truly be questioned. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Integrated Clinical Pathways in Nursing
[ send me this paper ]
This 10 page report discusses what an “integrated clinical pathway” is and the purposes associated with it Simply enough, a clinical pathway is precisely what the name suggests . . . a path to follow. It serves as a multi-disciplinary guideline in relationship to the treatment, prognosis, and outcomes a nursing team might expect to see regarding a particular patient’s care. The concept may be applied in a wide variety of settings for numerous treatments and medical protocols. In general, a well-designed integrated clinical pathways clearly allows for the care team and the patient to be, literally, all on the same page. Bibliography lists 15 sources.
