Gender Roles in American Culture
[ send me this paper ]
A 4 page research paper/essay that addresses the topic of gender roles in US culture. Gender roles in mainstream American culture have been evolving rapidly over the last thirty years due to the influence of the women's movement and its influence. Young women today have many more job opportunities and career options. Men who are openly emotional and who take a greater role in raising their children and domestic chores are no longer regarded as not being masculine. However, there have been some missteps along with the progress. This examination of contemporary gender roles will attempt to determine the nature of male and female roles in contemporary American society in order also to determine what this indicates about American cultural ideals. Gender Roles in Fairy Tales
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper examining the traditional gender roles presented in the classic fairy tales. Beginning from the observations of psychoanalyst Karen Horney and anthropologist Margaret Mead, the paper is mostly involved with the traditional view of the beautiful princess waiting for the rescue that will come in the person of the handsome prince. The concern with these tales is that they will train young female readers that normal life is that which can be found in the traditional fairy tale, and that they perpetuate traditional gender roles in which women depend on men for their very survival and are unable to think for themselves. Gender Roles, Organization & Leadership
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page paper comparing the gender role aspect of three societies. All societies maintain variations of generalities that can apply to many, if not most, other societies, one of which is that males are traditional leaders. Though there are some cultures where this is not the standard organization, those cultures are rare. Here, the role of gender as it affects leadership, and to a lesser extent, social organization is examined in and compared among three societies: the Sepik region of Papua, New Guinea; the community of Stinking Creek, Kentucky; and the general society in which we live. Bibliography lists 8 sources.

Gender Roles: How They Affect Health
[ send me this paper ]
17 pages in length. The male and female genders bear many differences when it comes to their respective mental, emotional and physical states. Typically – and some say only because of cultural indoctrination – men and women, boys and girls each have their own set of standards by which they live, effectively and ultimately maintaining a certain degree of gender compliance. This separation, however, often results in a literal tearing down of one's defenses, be they mental, emotional and/or physical. Bibliography lists 16 sources.
